Cyclone Fengal LIVE updates: Heavy rain lashes in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh; Chennai airport shutdown

Heavy rains accompanied by gusty winds pounded several parts of northern Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, as cyclonic storm Fengal lay 120 km east of Puducherry. It is expected to make landfall between Karaikal and Mamallapuram on November 30 evening.

The Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai, has maintained its red weather alert for Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Villuppuram, Kallakurichi, Cuddalore districts, and Puducherry on Saturday.

While Chennai airport has suspended its operations till 7 pm, Chennai MRTS services have also suspended its operations. Fewer buses were seen on the roads.
